These are all good ideas, though alas internships seem to be destined for younger applicants. I received my Ph.D. a little over 10 years ago and my resume says it all: too old for an internship, too inexperienced for an assistant curator position. Any suggestions for the 40-something-Ph.D. who wants a foot in the door at a museum, but is financially unable to commit to a lot of volunteer time?

Great post, though: sums up the intellectual versus practical aspects of museum work very well.
