Bud Goldstone was a maverick and a man of action, but he was never into the self-promotion that so plagues our culture in southern California. I had the pleasure of working with him many times on arranging tours and events for various preservation and architectural history organizations in southern California. He always got in, got it done, and never tried to give himself the glory I feel he truly deserved. He lived a life that is a good lesson for people who want to protect the things around us without trying to make ourselves into stars. Not many people might know his name, but he accomplished more than most people who try to take credit for things they never really do. A good life lesson, Bud.

Thank you for a wonderful article about two Los Angeles treasures. The Watts Towers and Bud Goldstone. I've followed his work with the Towers and other art installations over the years. His creative problem solving and keen intellect have helped preserve quite a few artifacts and sites, and, I do believe, launched a few rather large objects into the stratosphere.
