I agree Jonny. A lot of work has been accomplished with just a simple lever, fulcrum, and wheel. The writers of books and TV shows like “Ancient Aliens” discredit the intelligence of our species by selling make-believe stories about how mankind did not have the imagination and gumption to build monuments of grand scale. These authors are banking on their target audience lacking critical thinking skills or any education in engineering and science. 3000 years from now, I’m sure there will be people reading books about how aliens directed the construction of the Hoover Dam.

To Bonnie, so how then? Aliens? Much of the stone is generally agreed to be from local quarries, and locals told ancient Greeks that some of the pyramids took 20 years to build, so Occam’s Razor suggests they did indeed do it themselves. Such an amazing achievement that, as you show, it’s literally incredible (funny how no one uses the word in its literal sense any more) to many.

I wonder how these stones were transported, lifted and cared in Egypt. I no longer think it reasonable that slaves and low-tech tools were used.
