I finally made it to Oaxaca last year, 2011, for Day of the Dead. I had been wanting to go for 5 years and plan to return again this year. My daughter and I attended 2 cooking classes and fell in love with the Oaxacan people, the food, Mezcal, etc. Even though I live in Santa Barbara, I used to live near Chicago and going to the National Museum of Mexican Art was always a highlight of my visits. I have been wanting to try your restaurant since I returned from Oaxaca last year; it was recommended to me by a friend who lives south of Los Angeles. Rick Bayless's Frontera Grill and his new OXCO restaurants in Chicago are some of my favorites.

Another very good cooking class in Oaxaca is Reyna Mendoza's. Actually, it was excellent.
