It’s too bad the metal platform — with the huge bolts that are embedded in the boulder — wasn’t designed, or at least colored, in a way that made the overall installation more slick or subtle. Michael Heizer kind of bobbled on that aspect of his work.

Taking this rock out of its natural is setting is WRONG HEADED.

We agree with Izepeda, it is a pure Time Piece. That was our point when we tried to connect Heizer and Perray, a younger artist working with time and memory in France. I’m at a point in my life where I’m allowing my heart and mind to indulge in the various forms of art outside of music and dance. I highly enjoyed your viewpoints and expression of this art piece. After reading, I’ve come to see it as a time piece of this earth and all that it encompasses. I no longer view it as just “The Rock.”
